Until the lions have their own historians, the tale of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.

I breathe life into the lion’s tales—those lesser-known and hidden stories where truth is concentrated and justice makes demands. My goal is to transport readers through a portal in the American South and into a realm where physical meets metaphysical; where lineages dialogue across eternity; and where, unburdened by borders, we converge at a diasporic family reunion. Among my pages, readers will ululate, snap beans, organize for equal rights, heal the sick, smell the rain, suffer heartbreak, and speak in transatlantic tears. In my work, past, present, and future meet as kinfolk all just trying to do the best they can. Readers are safe to engage with the lions of our ancestry; to be fascinated and entertained by the lush and outrageous stories we tell.
